Late evening yesterday, I got a call from a friend from Brisbane. I was at my tuition and did not attend his call. Moments later, I was worried for why he had called. Not that he never calls otherwise, but we had an on-line chat earlier during the day. The restless me concluded it was some emergency he was calling me for. I even thought he had been attacked in Australia but couldn’t find a reason why he’d call me to just tell that. Maybe, he wanted me to post about it? :)
I spoke to him once my class was over. I started off with a worried tone only to know he had called to say he loves my blog.
He is not the reader kinds and by this I mean he wouldn’t read anything with genuine interest except maybe the techie stuff. He hates novels as far as I know and reading as a hobby is something he cannot come to terms with. We shared the bench in college until some other boy in the class became my Hero. ( and then the selfish me, ditched him! Bad, I know) So when we would sit together, I would carry some novel to read during lectures and this boy would wonder how anyone could read by choice. I tried telling him how beautiful The Kite Runner was, all while I read it for the third time with him beside me, and he would stare like I was talking Greek. I am telling you all this now because yesterday he read my blog a to z. With no omissions. No exceptions. And that he loved every bit of it. I like to hear ” Oh, I didn’t know you could write” from people. I manage to take that as a big compliment. He sang glory for quite sometime and my belly swelled in pride.
He said he knows me better now, through the blog. He picked his favorite of all the posts. He also called me ‘judging’. I think he meant it in a nice way though, you know, the wise kinds. :)
This dear friend, from miles away, touched my heart yesterday. And since it was too late here, to say that he ‘made my day’, I stocked my joy overnight and I’m spilling it today.
So like most other days, I am having an awesome day!
